Republican Senator Announces Support For Climate Bill

South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) announced his support for a climate bill this year on Sunday – but Democrats still face a steep climb to gain broad bipartisan backing for the legislation. Democrats need just a handful of Republicans to get the 60 votes needed to overcome a Senate filibuster – if they can convince skeptical coal- and manufacturing-state Democrats to support the bill. But while environmentalists heralded Graham’s support as a “game changer,” any climate bill still faces steep obstacles in the Senate. “We are also convinced that we have found… a framework for climate legislation to pass Congress,” Graham wrote in a Sunday New York Times op-ed co-authored with Massachusetts Democrat John Kerry. “It begins now, not months from now — with a road to 60 votes in the Senate.”...read more

Well, at least this demonstrates that the supposedly "Conservative" Republicans are no such thing. So, do you like your socialism with a country-fried Southern drawl, or with a Boston accent? Personally, it makes me sick.

They only want GOP support so the albatross can be shared come election time, and you know, the Republicans just might be dumb enough to play along these days. They have long since quit paying attention to their voter base, save for the occasional meaningless rhetorical play. God help us all.

The smart money is on the so-called angry mob, which will only get angrier when, should this bill pass, energy prices soar. Noboby questions that they will. The only disagreement is about how much they will. This is before we even get into the inevitable consequences of the bailouts, which Uncle Sam is desparately trying to stave off until after election time.
