The DRA will be marking this milestone with a new logo, launching an updated website, and at the 85th Annual Convention held in Arizona January 19-23, 2011 at member ranch Tanque Verde. Created in 1926 the Dude Ranchers Association, or DRA, is now the governing body of the West's Dude Ranch industry. Over 100 ranches have passed the rigorous two year inspection and approval process and are current members of the DRA. The first official DRA meeting was held in late September 1926 and attended by many ranchers, railroad officials, and even national park officials. Initial objectives included standardizing practices, and discussing transportation and proper care of guests. Plus a few items on western history, western literature and the sport of rodeo... Frank DuBois served as the NM Secretary of Agriculture from 1988 to 2003. DuBois is a former legislative assistant to a U.S. Senator, a Deputy Assistant Secretary of Interior, and is the founder of the DuBois Rodeo Scholarship.
