The journey West
On this day in 1803, Lewis and Clark began their expedition to the west by leaving from Pittsburgh, Pa. at 11 in the morning.
Anyone interested in the Lewis and Clark trek to the west would find "Undaunted Courage" by Stephen Ambrose a great read. It's one of those, "can't put it down" books.

If you want to get technical, and I do, only Lewis was there. William Clark was still down in Louisville when Meriwether Lewis left Pittsburgh.
