Today, U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson, PA-5, joined by eight members of the Pennsylvania delegation to the U.S. House of Representatives, sent a letter to the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) urging the agencies to reevaluate their proposal to list the Northern Long-Eared Bat as an endangered species.
The members reference the scientific data used by FWS as the basis for the designation as inadequate and caution that moving forward with the listing would constitute a “fundamentally ineffective” approach to species restoration, while imposing an unnecessary and harmful impact upon Pennsylvania’s economy...more
