Old Grizzly Euthanized, Tried to Get Into Building

State wildlife officials euthanized a 28-year-old grizzly bear after it tried to get into a storage building that contained horse tack and a bear-resistant container of horse feed. The Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks says the bear was captured Monday in the Jardine area just north of Yellowstone National Park. State and federal wildlife officials said they euthanized the bear because of its old age, its physical condition and the property damage it had caused. The male bear was first captured, along with its mother, in 1988 along the Idaho border. It was captured again the next year after run-ins with livestock and then spent the majority of the rest of its life in the park. AP
