Salazar names Coloradan to Interior deputy post
A Colorado conservationist and former congressional candidate has been named the Interior Department’s deputy assistant secretary for fish, wildlife and parks. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar announced Will Shafroth’s appointment Tuesday. Shafroth was a founding director of the Great Outdoors Colorado Trust Fund, which distributes Colorado Lottery proceeds for wildlife, parks, rivers, trails and open space. Salazar, a former Colorado senator, worked with Shafroth on Great Outdoors Colorado. Shafroth served as GOCO’s executive director from 1994 to 2000.
