Oregon environmental group comes out against Wyden old growth bill
An eastern Oregon environmental group said today it opposes a compromise bill intended to limit old growth logging and increase thinning in national forests east of the Cascades. The La Grande-based Hells Canyon Preservation Council said in an 11-page letter to Sen. Ron Wyden that though his bill would result in positive changes to federal forest management on the dry side of Oregon, parts of the the legislation run counter to that goal.
