Convicted sex offender is arrested crossing border near Deming
U.S. Border Patrol agents near Deming arrested a convicted sex offender who attempted to enter the U.S. illegally. Agents arrested Jose Suarez-Ramirez, 29, on Wednesday after they spotted him and another person crossing the border. Suarez-Ramirez admitted to agents that he had no immigration documentation, agents said. Agents eventually discovered that Suarez-Ramirez had an "extensive" criminal history, including convictions for criminal sexual penetration of a child younger than 13, burglary, conspiracy, larceny and possession of a controlled substance. Suarez-Ramirez remained in custody Wednesday pending prosecution for the illegal entry, agents said. [link]
