Grizzly Tests Reveal Little About Deadly Attack
Mystery still surrounds a deadly grizzly attack, eventhough wildlife officials have excamined the body of the aggressive sow. Experts say tests on the euthanized bear are providing few answers. The female grizzly ripped open several tents, killed one camper and injured two others at a campground near Cooke City. Fish Wildlife and Parks found the bear still had her winter coat and weighed 225 pounds, whereas others her age average 300 to 400 pounds. Here some more tips to prevent bear attacks:
• Keep a clean camp!
• Inspect campsites for bear sign and for careless campers nearby. Notify a ranger or warden of potential problems if you are camping in a National Park or State Park.
• Place all trash in bearproof containers.
• Pets, especially dogs, must be kept under physical restraint.
• Report all bear sightings to the nearest ranger or warden immediately.
