Ranch Radio is fulfilling a request today. This has been a longstanding request for Oklahoma Woman by Roger Miller and I finally found it on his LP album Off The Wall.
Vicki, this is for you.
Issues of concern to people who live in the west: property rights, water rights, endangered species, livestock grazing, energy production, wilderness and western agriculture. Plus a few items on western history, western literature and the sport of rodeo... Frank DuBois served as the NM Secretary of Agriculture from 1988 to 2003. DuBois is a former legislative assistant to a U.S. Senator, a Deputy Assistant Secretary of Interior, and is the founder of the DuBois Rodeo Scholarship.

Oh my Oh my Mr. DuBois....
You certainly know how to bring back a flood of memories! My name is Leslie (Coffman) Wheaton. Vicki is my soul sister sent to me 35 years ago. She mentored me through school at NMSU. I was dating her brother Mark for a few years...but the NMSU rodeo team and life in general got in the way - lol. David Ligon woke us all up many a morning with Oklahoma Woman...just wanted to say a HUGE "THANK YOU"...
Big, big hugs to you for finding this gem of a song.....I will now be an avid follower of The Westerner and your blog sites...
Thank you again....you have made my day. Vicki....I love you girl!
