Metal Thieves Fatally Stab Horse on Texas Ranch
Metal thieves killed a horse on a Lancaster Ranch on Thursday. The incident happened during the overnight hours on the leased land on W. Main Street, according to the animal's owner. Benny Thomas Bear said someone cut a fence to gain access to the property in order to steal some scrap metal. He said one of the crooks also attacked a female cutting horse during the theft. "They stabbed her. They cut her in the belly and she died from that," Bear said. "I'm very upset." He said he found the horse bleeding, gasping for breath and struggling to stand before she eventually died. Bear, who raises and sells cutting horses, said the animal was both an emotional and financial loss. "To put a value on her right now, well it's hard to say," he said. "She was worth quite a bit of money."...more
