Carlsbad High student arrested after rifle found in his truck

A Carlsbad High student was arrested Sept. 13 on suspicion of having a weapon on school property. It isn't suspected that the student was planning to use it. A juvenile male was arrested when a gun was reportedly spotted in his vehicle, prompting the Carlsbad police to investigate. Police say the gun was a hunting rifle and they suspect that it had been accidentally left in the vehicle. After an investigation, police don't believe the gun had been brought on campus purposefully. While the police believe it may have been an honest mistake, the charges will be handed over to juvenile court. Current-Argus
