The U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance, the National Pork Producers Council and the National Pork Board are making farmers available to provide accurate information following an animated film about pork production focused on sow housing and tail docking released Wednesday as part of Food Day. HSUS produced the four-minute animated children's film, which exposes "problems with factory farming from the perspective of a piglet named Ginger." According to HSUS, the film is intended for children ages 7 to 10. The story follows the hog's journey on a "typical factory farm," and the "evolution of a farmer who opens his eyes to a more humane and sustainable way of farming," according to HSUS. Joe Maxwell, vice president of outreach and engagement at HSUS said the group is hoping the film will spur conversation about "inhumane practices in the pork industry." "The Humane Society of the United States is thrilled to celebrate Food Day with the release of this endearing and educational short film," Maxwell said.
