US to offer first offshore renewable energy lease auction in July
US Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell and Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) Director Tommy Beaudreau today announced that the first-ever competitive lease sale for renewable energy on the US Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) will be held on 31 July. The auction will offer 164,750 acres offshore Rhode Island and Massachusetts for commercial wind energy leasing. ‘This is history in the making as we mark yet another major milestone in the President’s all-of-the-above energy strategy,’ said Secretary Jewell.
