Joan Jett Removed From Macy's Parade Float After Ranchers Protest
Joan Jett was scheduled to perform during the Macy's
Thanksgiving Day Parade later this month -- and that'll still happen,
albeit on a different float.The singer was slated to perform during the annual parade in New
York on a float representing South Dakota, but after protests from South
Dakotan ranchers, who say the rocker's a vegetarian and critic of their
trade, she'll instead take her talents elsewhere, CNN reports. Jett is an outspoken supporter of PETA, appearing in print ads for the animal rights group. "When we learned that about Miss Jett, we were rightly concerned
about her representing South Dakota and a state that is so heavily
reliant on agriculture and livestock production to drive our economy,”
the South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association's Jodie Anderson said in a statement...more
