Commercial coyote hunt in Lincoln County a success
The coyote hunt staged last weekend in Lincoln County occurred completely on private ranch land where owners had reported a growing problem with the predator, the hunt coordinator said this week.
Rusty Silva said he's been guiding hunting parties for 25 years and operating his own outfitting and guide business, Antler Obsession Outdoors, for the past five to six years. He lives in the Brady Canyon area just outside the limits of the village of Ruidoso, he said.
Twenty-two, two-man teams participated, with the winning team being one of two that bagged eight coyotes, Silva said. From there the number of kills per team dropped with one at seven, a few at six and lower numbers from there, he said.
A few of the teams met at his home and that's where the teams returned at the end of the hunt, he said. The coyote hunt staged last weekend in Lincoln County occurred completely on private ranch land where owners had reported a growing problem with the predator, the hunt coordinator said this week.
