Body of Mexican immigrant, water bottle found in desert near Santa Teresa

Authorities found the body of a 36-year-old man in a remote area of the desert near Santa Teresa Saturday evening. According to the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office, the body belonged to a Mexican immigrant who may have died from the extreme weather conditions. Border Patrol agents were patrolling the area when they discovered footprints, and after following the prints for a mile they discovered the body. Authorities also found an empty water bottle about 15 feet from the body, as well as a pair of boots that reportedly belonged to the victim, officials said.
