My predictions and comments yesterday included collaboration crowing and the word is everywhere. In fact, Secretary Jewell's remarks embodied everything I mentioned, i.e., collaboration crowin' and protection of the ESA:
“This is truly a historic effort – one that represents extraordinary
collaboration across the American West,” said U.S. Secretary of the
Interior Sally Jewell. “It demonstrates that the
Endangered Species Act is an effective and flexible tool and a critical
catalyst for conservation – ensuring that future generations can enjoy
the diversity of wildlife that we do today. The epic conservation effort
will benefit westerners and hundreds of species that call this iconic
landscape home, while giving states, businesses and communities the
certainty they need to plan for sustainable economic development.”
Issues of concern to people who live in the west: property rights, water rights, endangered species, livestock grazing, energy production, wilderness and western agriculture. Plus a few items on western history, western literature and the sport of rodeo... Frank DuBois served as the NM Secretary of Agriculture from 1988 to 2003. DuBois is a former legislative assistant to a U.S. Senator, a Deputy Assistant Secretary of Interior, and is the founder of the DuBois Rodeo Scholarship.
