Cow tramples, kills Axtell rancher
The McLennan County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of an Axtell rancher trampled to death by a cow Friday morning.
Sheriff Parnell McNamara said Eddie Curtis, 70, apparently had backed a truck and trailer to a loading chute to try to take the cow to a veterinarian and was trying to load it when it trampled him in the chute. Curtis’s son, who knew where he was, found him about 10 a.m. and called authorities. Curtis was pronounced dead at the scene.
