And why did the BLM, NPS, USFWS, USGS, FS, EPA, NOAA and others have their own climate change/global warming research? Because for years that was the hot ticket to a budget increase, and they all went after it.
Issues of concern to people who live in the west: property rights, water rights, endangered species, livestock grazing, energy production, wilderness and western agriculture. Plus a few items on western history, western literature and the sport of rodeo... Frank DuBois served as the NM Secretary of Agriculture from 1988 to 2003. DuBois is a former legislative assistant to a U.S. Senator, a Deputy Assistant Secretary of Interior, and is the founder of the DuBois Rodeo Scholarship.

"hot ticket to a budget increase"
-- which is the reason they buy, steal and swindle more land.
-- unlike with highway potholes, the tax payers have no way to see what work is or isn't done in remote, desolate areas.
-- ironically, part of the new CA gas tax is going to buy more land, "maintain" parks, and privide wildlife corridors.
-- $20,000,000 of tax goes to "climate change adaption planning"
-- SB 50 will give CA 'right of first refusal' to purchase, or arrange for another entity to purchase, any fed lands that come up for sale.
-- SB 49 will enforce the most stringent versions of Obama's WOTUS, CWA, ESA and the Clean Air Act in CA.
-- nature 'con'servancies have a 'bank' of 'protected' land that they use to bargain with potential developers in land swaps, thus the 'protected' land ends up getting developed anyway.
Always appreciate your comments.
Frank: Your comments are spot on...100% correct. Adopting "climate change" was a free meal ticket in the face of increasing dept. budget cuts. It was thrust and pushed with zeal within USDA FS.
