20th Century Fox Debuts Animated Animal-Rights Film

California-based animal sanctuary The Gentle Barn announced this week its partnership with 20th Century Fox and plant-based beverage brand Zevia to promote the upcoming animal-rights-themed film Ferdinand. The animated film features the voices of John Cena, Kate McKinnon, Gina Rodriguez, and Anthony Anderson and tells the story of kind-hearted Ferdinand, a bull torn from his home to be exploited in Spain’s bullfighting industry. Ferdinand teams with an unlikely cast of characters—including goats, bunnies, and hedgehogs—to help him return home to his family. To promote the compassionate message in Ferdinand, The Gentle Barn—with support from the movie studio—recently adopted a bull calf and named him after the title character. “The Gentle Barn is a place of healing,” The Gentle Barn founder Ellie Laks said, “where children learn that even though we might look different on the outside, we’re all the same on the inside. My hope is that Ferdinand will not only raise awareness but will bring about great change in the way people think.” Ferdinand hits theaters nationwide on December 15, and animal lovers can visit Ferdinand at The Gentle Barn. link
