Report: Trump may pardon Dwight and Steven Hammond

(KOIN) --- The White House is considering granting a presidential pardon to Dwight and Steven Hammond, the father and son ranchers from eastern Oregon whose charges of arson ignited the Malheur Wildlife Refuge standoff. The Washington Post reported the story in an article about President Trump's latest "fixation" on presidential pardons. Dwight Hammond, 73, and Steven Hammond, 46, were convicted of setting fire on federal land and served time — the father 3 months, the son 1 year. But a federal judge later ruled that their terms were too short under U.S. minimum sentencing law and ordered them back to prison for about 4 years each. The case angered ranchers and militants, who occupied Malheur for 41 days in response.
