Lawsuit dismissed against Adams County deputies in death of rancher Jack Yantis
A federal wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of an Idaho rancher who was fatally shot by sheriff's deputies has been dismissed.
A judge tossed the lawsuit Tuesday amid an apparent settlement.
The dismissal was requested by the family of rancher Jack Yantis, Adams County, its sheriff and the two deputies. Adams County officials and attorneys involved in the case didn't immediately return calls seeking further details.
Widow Donna Yantis said Wednesday the end of the legal case doesn't bring closure because no amount of money can replace her husband.
Jack Yantis died in 2015 after one of his bulls was hit by a car. Two deputies responded to the crash and Yantis arrived with a rifle.
Authorities say there was an altercation and everyone involved fired their weapons. LINK
