After a televised Oval Office meeting where President Donald Trump bickered with Democratic congressional leaders, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi questioned the president's "manhood."
The nearly 17-minute Tuesday sit-down between Trump, Pelosi, Vice President Mike Pence, and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer began cordially enough. But before long, Trump was sparring with Pelosi and Schumer over appropriations for the president's proposed border wall ahead of a potential government shutdown.
"I am proud to shut down the government for border security, Chuck," Trump said at one point. "The people of this country don't want criminals and people that have lots of problems and drugs pouring into our country, so I will take the mantle. I will be the one to shut it down."
Pelosi went from the White House to a Democratic caucus committee meeting, at which multiple outlets report that the soon-to-be speaker of the House went off on the president.
"It’s like a manhood thing for him," the Washington Post quotes Pelosi as saying, citing a source in the room. "As if manhood could ever be associated with him. This wall thing."
"Nancy Pelosi was on fire with her fellow Democrats," wrote Politico, who also reported that the California congresswoman made the "manhood" remarks.
