Beds and dorm rooms are ready for the dozens of migrants expected to arrive at Expo New Mexico in Albuquerque in the coming days, but many taxpayers are wondering who's paying their utility bills?
"We're not just corn dogs and concerts. We are part of this community, and when there's a need such as a short term need like this, we're here to do it," said Dan Mourning, the general manager of Expo New Mexico.

On Tuesday, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller announced that an area at the state fairgrounds will be available to help house migrants temporarily.
"We're a state fair facility, and we are the state of New Mexico but we are self-funded," Mourning said. "We do (pay the utilities) and it comes right out of our operating budget. It's a big piece of property, we use a lot of utilities. Sixty people taking a shower I don't think is going to hurt us too bad." Morning said the expo is an enterprise-funded operation, which means

It appears they would have spent the money on utilities one way or another. The point being, is those expenditures will be on behalf of migrants, instead of on a NM youth program, which is being moved to another city. I don't know where the 4-H program is being moved to in Las Cruces, but I'm willing to bet it will be in a facility that does receive taxpayer funds. Further, this article says State Police are being assigned to patrol the area, and they receive taxpayer funds. So I don't buy the no taxpayers funding argument.
