A Terrible Budget Deal for Conservatives

This week, the House passed a budget deal which will suspend the debt ceiling, increase spending by $322 billion over the next two years, and add $1.7 trillion to the national debt over the next 10 years!

Compared to past recent budget deals, this one is especially bad. As you can see below, this deal is worse than the budget deals made during the Obama years.

Here’s how bad of a deal this is for conservatives:
  • It does NOT curtail spending in exchange for raising the debt limit.
  • It increases non-defense spending by 4.5%, but only increases defense spending by 3.1%—parity used to be the goal, but this is settling for less.
  • It's worse than the deal President Trump signed in 2018, when he famously said, “I will never sign another bill like this again.”
  • It increases spending more than 4x the amount of either of the Obama budget deals.
  • While only 33% of House Republicans voted for it, 93% of Democrats did.
  • Even radical liberal, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez voted for it!
