Taos cowgirl to represent Northern New Mexico

Alexis Marie Rosales, of Taos, was crowned Little Miss Rodeo New Mexico for Northern New Mexico. Rosales, 10, was one of five cowgirls selected to promote rodeo and horse skills around the state. The pageant took place in Hobbs over Labor Day weekend. The girls had to demonstrate their knowledge of rodeo and horses, along with giving a personal interview and a speech. Rosales attends fifth grade at Ranchos Elementary School. She is the daughter of SueAnn Vigil and BJ Rosales. She is a member of the Silver Spurs 4-H Club and shows goats, swine and heifers. She competes in the 4-H rodeo in barrels, poles and flag race and says she plans to start competing in breakaway roping. She also likes to ski and play basketball and softball. Rosales was the 2018 Rodeo de Taos Princess. "I enjoy representing my community in any way I can in the rodeo life," Rosales wrote in her letter to the Miss Rodeo New Mexico committee. "I hope to encourage other girls to run for rodeo royalty and represent our community," she wrote. link
