Mnuchin Vows More Scrutiny Following L.A. Lakers Paycheck-Program Loan
It was outrageous that the Los Angeles Lakers received a loan from the Paycheck Protection Program meant to help small businesses, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said on CNBC Tuesday. Mnuchin said if the Lakers hadn’t returned the loan, “they would have had a liability.” He said that from now on any loan of more than $2 million will get extra scrutiny and that “it’s the borrowers who have criminal liability” if they misuse the program.
