Those Hands

Approved by Heaven

Cornerstone Creep

By Stephen L. Wilmeth

Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it.

                                                                                                  ~Deuteronomy 4:2

This business of 125 Catholic priests and church administrators coming out of the closet to demand the acceptance of LGBT people to be ushered into the light of day to preach, teach, and implement church policy is being represented by the press as approved by Heaven. The announcement that 63,000 people have already signed up to push the issue with the church also seems to suggest that the secular glide path toward managing the message is fully ensconced within the party lines plugged into the Vatican’s communication center. Further, it colors the aura of secularism that has had a death grip on mainstream news, the world order smiley faces, and the progressive mobs who simply won’t go away.

There must be safety in numbers because there certainly seems to be a bunch of them.

            Those Hands

I admit the fact that shipping has had a degree of redundancy over the years that may become stale and overused for the casual reader, but esoterica wins out over all other rationale at least twice a year.

The fact that on average in the data period from 1972 to the present the very day of the year that equates to the highest average prices for calves has a lot to do with that mindset. So, the trucks have been called for Monday and the near final act of the ranch year is awaiting the starter’s call to the blocks.

            We are going to ship.

The cow business has been tough for lots of folks. The big triumvirate, (Covid, political tyranny and drought) has ruled our horizons and there is every indicator that it may not change over the coming year. In fact, it might get a lot worse, and the prevailing tendency is to withdraw even further from what used to be normal.

            We’ve lost some friends, too.

Chances are the truth will never be exposed, but the increasing frequency of strokes, heart attacks, and cancer among the 40–60-year-old contingent of our society simply can’t be the luck of the draw. Something is happening and most of us know how to lift our noses to detect from which direction the smell of death is coming.

Indeed, we will ship, but, as we sit in our pickups and the dust settles from the last of the trucks, our tally books will be out and ready for entries that will become reminders of how this year impacted us. We may hesitate to write, and part of the distraction will be there right there in front of us. Tough looking hands already, too many of us will be reminded how those hands holding the pencil stub and the steering wheel have changed in appearance and strength from all those yesterdays.

Doggone it … there ought to be some things that don’t change as much as those hands.

            Cornerstone Creep

The geriatric despot in the White House told America this week that the Constitution is forever changing.

How such slurred moments of epiphany strike him is only a matter of conjecture, but to simply proclaim the fact the cornerstone, the law of our land, changes without very specific actions is a societal and historical disgrace. He may be the president in residence, but he is not the American oracle of reason, and he certainly isn’t the appointed emperor.

It is interesting watching this nominal if not supposed most powerful man in the world and his papal counterpart, the world’s first far left pope. Both are taking grand liberties in their assumed leadership of the flock.

They seem to agree on four or five doctrinal issues of the day, and, in fact, use these subjects in their authority and application of leadership. Climate change, environmental justice, deviant sexual renaissance, the right to spread manipulated scientific data created in center ring circus acts, and secular human rights (wealth redistribution) are standards and shared theses. A shadow floating over the entirety of this progressive cast of priorities is the fetal assassination of conceived human beings. Both ostensibly agree with the widespread murder of innocents.

Since fact checking has become the modern-day equivalent of a double dog dare you threat, fact checking the Constitution on one hand and the Bible on the other for their individual authority supporting these tyrannical atrocities places both of them in quicksand. There is no such authority. They have assumed it on their own and rule through the auspices of their mob followers.

There is an interesting idea starting to float that ties these modernistic hooligans to written and unwritten business models they must endorse in order to act as they do. Notwithstanding the normal course of government to fabricate lies and create societal divisions, private business successes are more closely tied to honesty because dishonesty and chicanery tends to shake the charlatans and thieves out of the trees.

Nations and church hierarchies have to run the same risk only on a more dynamic scale. Both the United States with it recently attained $30T debt and the near insolvent Catholic Church have been put in peril because of not protecting the standards by which they espouse their positions on this earth.

            It’s a freaking mess.

In the meantime, I’m going to go start sorting calves and getting ready for Monday. I’ll pledge to remain out of the business of most of my friends and family, and I’ll worry about my own soul knowing that I am lost without the Grace of my Savior, Jesus Christ.

In that, though, I find hope and what little sense of well-being this current state of world affairs afford.
