Moose mail

Check out this mail carrier! In 1910, W.R. Day (also known as Buffalo Bill) raised these two moose, Pete and Nellie, and then broke them to drive his mail cart. He would transport mail and supplies to Edmonton and St. Albert from as far away as Wabasca. This is a photo by J.H. Gano of Mr. Day and his two-wheeled cart in 1911.

It looks like the only thing which has changed in all that time is that the mail, which is just as slow, now is transported by vehicles.

And soon to be electric vehicles.
