While no designs are set yet for what will go in the area in place of the homes, the utility says it's time for those people to go after too many years of severe and unsafe flooding.
“We’ve seen in recent years some really strong monsoon storms that have caused some challenges there for the residents,” said El Paso Water Public Affairs Officer Denise Parra. “The best option right now is to actually remove those homes for the protection of the residents.”
