Song Of The Day #700

Ranch Radio's 700th song just happens to occur on Swingin' Monday.  So here's a swingin' tune about two things much appreciated here: Cowboys & Rodeos by Quartette.

The tune is on their 1996 CD Quartette.  According to Amazon, this CD is now pretty rare.

Song Of The Day #697

Ranch Radio needs something to get over the hump to Friday this week, and nothing does that better than Bob Wiils, Tommy Duncan & The Texas Playboys. Here's their 1936 recording of Get Along Home Cindy.

The tune was recorded in Chicago on September 29, 1936 and has some of the greats on it. In addition to Wills & Duncan there is: Herman Arnspiger - guitar, Leon McAuliffe - steel, Johnnie Lee Wills - banjo, Jesse Ashlock - fiddle, Al Strickland - piano, Joe Ferguson - base, and Bill Dacus - drums.

Turn that volume up so your neighbors can enjoy it too!

Our tune today on Ranch Radio features Governor Jimmie Davis who is having trouble with the credit man, chickens and his jalopy.  He tells us all about in his 1943 recording of Walking My Blues Away.

Ranch Radio has a request from a listener in Idaho that fits in with our Out West week.  Here is Patsy Montana and her 1935 recording of I Want To Be A Cowboy's Sweetheart.  It was this tune that made Patsy Montana the first female country singer to have a million seller.

Song Of The Day #665

Ranch Radio is feeling Rockabilly this morning. That's a genre of country music we haven't explored so far...but we'll start today. When Elvis walked into Sam Phillips studio he spawned the white man's rock 'n roll music. Some of his early recordings though, such as Blue Moon of Kentucky, That's Alright Mama and our selection today, Mystery Train, started the rockabilly craze that influenced country music all during the 50's and 60's. We'll have a week of rockabilly soon.

Song Of The Day #664

Ranch Radio is feeling helpful this morning, so here's a tune that goes out to all you little darlin's I've helped in the past:  Billy Swan's 1974 recording of  I Can Help.

Song Of The Day #663

This a different week on Ranch Radio as I pick whatever song I'm in the mood for, no matter the era or genre of music.

Today I'm feeling kind of bluesy and I'm also tired of dealing with a certain type of person.  Put the two together and you get Pugsley Buzzard performing Your Mind Is On Vacation But Your Mouth Is Working Overtime.   The tune is on his  16 track CD Chicago Typewriter.

Song Of The Day #662

When it comes to painting the town, I always tried to give it several coats.  I've been thinking about that and how lucky I was to never quite have the experience that Adam did in Adam & Evil by the Coal Porters.  It's a dandy tune, all six minutes of it, and you can find it on their 12 track CD  Turn The Water On, Boy!

Song Of The Day #661

It's Swingin' Monday on Ranch Radio. This will be a different kind of week on Ranch Radio.  Instead of picking an era, or a type of country or bluegrass, I'm gonna play whatever I'm in the mood for at that particular moment.  No telling what that will be.  Today, it will be some swingin' Tex-Mex by Tremoloco.  The tune is Abuela's Lament   and is on their 14 track CD Dulcinea.

If you must dance the devil's two-step, at least stop playing with that gun.
