‘Why don’t they tell us the truth?’: Government UFO report falls flat in Roswell

ROSWELL, New Mexico — The federal government’s recent landmark UFO study failed to offer the clear answers many hoped for.

In fact, Joyce Rowell was left with the same question she’s always had.

“Why don’t they tell us the truth?” Ms. Rowell, 75, said Friday as she and her daughter, Debra Tucker, searched for the next clue on an alien-themed scavenger hunt inside a cozy coffeehouse in downtown Roswell. 

...Ms. Tucker and Ms. Rowell are among the thousands who came to Roswell this weekend for the seemingly endless agenda of alien-themed concerts, games, outdoor movie showings, yoga, and a host of other events. But beneath the family-friendly atmosphere are serious questions about just how much information the government is withholding from the American people.

...The recent UAP report, released by the Pentagon and Office of the Director of National Intelligence, examined 144 military encounters with unidentified craft and could only explain one, which was believed to be a deflating balloon.

UFOs, the study said, could represent a major national security threat to the U.S. and may involve so-called “breakthrough technologies” that cannot be explained using today’s scientific knowledge.

...The Pentagon is in the early stages of revamping the reporting and data-collection systems around UFO sightings in the hopes of gaining a better understanding of the phenomenon, government officials said.

US intelligence community releases long-awaited UFO report

The US intelligence community on Friday released its long-awaited report on what it knows about a series of mysterious flying objects that have been seen moving through restricted military airspace over the last several decades.

In short, the answer, according to Friday's report, is very little, but the intelligence community's release of the unclassified document marks one of the first times the US government has publicly acknowledged that these strange aerial sightings by Navy pilots and others are worthy of legitimate scrutiny.

The report examined 144 reports of what the government terms "unidentified aerial phenomenon" — only one of which investigators were able to explain by the end of the study. Investigators found no evidence that the sightings represented either extraterrestrial life or a major technological advancement by a foreign adversary like Russia or China, but acknowledge that is a possible explanation.

"We were able to identify one reported UAP with high confidence. In that case, we identified the object as a large, deflating balloon. The others remain unexplained," the report says, using the Pentagon's terminology for UFOs.

Audio: American Airlines pilot radios ‘long cylindrical’ UFO over NM; Airline confirms and now the FBI may be involved

An American Airlines pilot was recorded on Sunday during a flight over New Mexico when he reported via radio an unidentified “long cylindrical object” flying over the airplane. The airline confirmed the transmission and pointed to the FBI, who says it’s “aware” of the incident. The pilot of the Phoenix-bound American Airlines flight 2292 first asked air traffic controllers, “Do you have any targets up here?” adding “We just had something go right over the top of us,” according to the radio transmission recorded by aviation blogger and radio interceptor Steve Douglass. “I hate to say this but it looked like a long cylindrical object that almost looked like a cruise-missile type of thing. Moving really fast and went right over the top of us,” the pilot added.American Airlines confirmed the authenticity of the recording and pointed to the FBI. “Following a debrief with our Flight Crew and additional information received, we can confirm this radio transmission was from American Airlines Flight 2292 on Feb. 21,” an American Airlines spokesperson told Fox News on Wednesday. “For any additional questions on this, we encourage you to reach out to the FBI.” On Thursday, the FBI confirmed it was aware of the incident, but per policy, did not say whether an investigation was underway...MORE

Senate Intelligence Committee commissions public report on UFOs

The ufology community is all abuzz this week about some news out of Washington, and for good reason. The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence just released their Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021. Much of it is the standard housekeeping dealing with appropriations, structural changes to departments in the CIA and some rearranging of the deck chairs in various departments inside the intelligence community. It also includes directions for reports to be generated on the activities of Russia, the Chinese Communist Party and other adversaries of interest. But buried back on pages 11 and 12, there is one section of the report that set the UFO community off like a 4th of July fireworks display.
The title of that section is “Advanced Aerial Threats.” Buckle up, campers. Things are about to get wild. Here’s the introductory paragraph with emphasis added by yours truly.

 The Committee supports the efforts of the Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon Task Force at the Office of Naval Intelligence to standardize collection and reporting on unidentified aerial phenomenon, any links they have to adversarial foreign governments, and the threat they pose to U.S. military assets and installations. However, the Committee remains concerned that there is no unified, comprehensive process within the Federal Government for collecting and analyzing intelligence on unidentified aerial phenomena, despite the potential threat. The Committee understands that the relevant intelligence may be sensitive; nevertheless, the Committee finds that the information sharing and coordination across the Intelligence Community has been inconsistent, and this issue has lacked attention from senior leaders.

There’s a lot going on in that introduction. First of all, the Senate Intelligence Committee just confirmed the existence of the multi-department program in the Pentagon that investigates incidents involving UFOs. (Or “Unidentified Aerial Phenomena” if you insist.) And they gave it a name with all capitalized letters. The Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon Task Force. This is the program that Pentagon spokeswoman Susan Gough shockingly dropped a reference to earlier this year when fielding UFO questions from journalists. This is about as close to total government confirmation as you could hope for and it speaks to the reality that the AATIP program never really ended as they previously claimed. It just had a new name assigned to it and the organizational structure was shifted around and broadened.
The committee also acknowledges the potential threat that these UAP could post to our military assets. This is what Luis Elizondo and the folks from TTSA have been screaming from the rooftops for more than three years. And it sounds like at least some folks in Congress have been listening.
But wait… there’s more. The committee is calling for an official report on what we know about the UAPs so far. They want the report by the end of the year and (wait for it…) they want the report to be made public.
