Plus a few items on western history, western literature and the sport of rodeo... Frank DuBois served as the NM Secretary of Agriculture from 1988 to 2003. DuBois is a former legislative assistant to a U.S. Senator, a Deputy Assistant Secretary of Interior, and is the founder of the DuBois Rodeo Scholarship.

150th Anniversary of the Civil War
2011 will mark the 150th anniversary of the Civil War and the causes and long term impact of the war are still being debated. The Westerner will from time to time post articles about this momentous event in our nation's history.
Let the debate begin.

I find it amazing that 150 years later the Civil War continues to fascinate the American population like no other event, even WWII. Just about the time you think nothing else can be learned about the civil war, a shelf of new scholarship comes out. I look forward to reading the articles you post on the westerner
