BLM officer shoots woman during illegal off-roading investigation near Sky Valley
A Bureau of Land Management officer shot a woman while investigating an incident involving illegal off-roading Sunday night near Sky Valley, investigators say.
The shooting happened about 11 p.m. off Berdoo Canyon Road, east of Dillon Road, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
BLM rangers and Joshua Tree National Park officials were investigating illegal off-roading and a failure to yield when the shooting occurred.
A woman, who was in the vehicle, suffered a non-life threatening injury, according to the sheriff's department. She was treated at a local hospital. A man was detained at the scene. Neither of their names have been released.
